  • Profile

A Family business, started in the early nineteen sixties with the vision of two friends Fagan & Morris (hence Fag-Mor Agencies). Mr. Fagan primarily provided haulage services while Mr. A. Anthony Morris affectionately called “Duppy Joe”, went out into the field as Custom Broker. The partnership with Mr. Fagan didn’t last for very long, as Mr. Fagan migrated shortly after, but the company name was still used.

Mr. A. Anthony Morris JP, to his credit, was also a founding member of the Custom Brokers Association of Jamaica (CBAJ) in 1966 and an executive member. Mrs. Lillith J. Morris his wife was very much involved with the financing and operation of the business in the late ‘60’s and early ‘70’s before she migrated in 1976. The business has operated for almost 40 years and changed hands in 1991 when Mr. Morris passed and left the business in the competent hands of his sons, David Morris a US Navy Veteran who also received Jamaica Promotions (JAMPRO) training in Clearance Documentation and Procedures, and Dermott Morris who holds a degree in Economics, a diploma in Computing and a certificate in Custom’s Regulation and Document processing from the Management Institute for National Development (MIND), along with a capable staff.

Both sons were involved in the business to varying degrees before their father’s passing, however, they rededicated themselves to its success and rebuilding in their father’s memory. With the addition of Maurice Jarrett in 1995 who brought with him a wealth of practical and theoretical (tariff, etc.) experience having worked for some of the more established custom’s brokers, one of whom was the late Aubrey Jarrett his father; coupled with continuous staff training over the years and continued involvement with the Custom’s Brokers Association of Jamaica (CBAJ), FMA Custom’s Brokers has re-positioned itself as a credible and professional organization within the Custom’s fraternity.

Their stability is telling, their goals of steady growth are already being realized- FMA now stands faced with the challenge of superseding their initial goals and breaking new ground. Originally located at 109 King Street, FMA Custom Brokers is now at 8 Kensington Avenue, Kingston Gardens, Kingston 4 and have been in that location for over 15 years now.
